Solano 888 Production’s Champagne Brunch

10:00 AM – The sun is shining, it’s a lovely day in Pasadena and the Solano 888 Team has come together for the first ever company “Champagne Brunch”. One-by-one the team assembled at iL Fornaio Restaurant and we greeted each other with mutual excitement for the day.  Our table was dressed with nine table settings and complimented with beautiful floral centerpieces designed by the team’s fabulous floral designer, Una Yeh of TheFlower Lab in Santa Monica. We were also pleasantly surprised with delicious cupcakes that were baked by the team’s Event Stylist, Nancy Adams-Friedman who is also the owner of Sweet Soirees in LA.

10:30 AM – After ordering our beverages (White Mocha’s, Mimosas, Latte’s, etc.) and getting situated in our seats, iL Fornaio’s friendly and knowledgeable server Arturo entered our private room to introduce himself and go over the three course menu.  We were given two options, either soup or salad, for the first dish.

(mixed greens, garlic croutons, shaved parmesan; house vinaigrette)

Zuppa Del Giorno
(Chef’s fresh soup of the day - Minestrone)

10:45 AM – Now that she had everyone’s undivided attention, without skipping a beat, Jonah pulled out her brunch itinerary and began giving an introduction followed by a toast. 



She revealed to the team exciting company news and welcomed us all to the first Solano 888 Team Brunch; it was quickly followed with applause from the team. As we waited for our first dish, Jonah provided us with our first team activity. It was an icebreaker game where we went around the table introducing ourselves. After giving our individual introductions we were given a container that was filled with post-it notes that had icebreaker questions written on them (Jonah later revealed that they were questions she found online for speed dating – hilarity ensued after that discovery). It was a lighthearted activity filled with a lot of laughter and great conversation.


11:00AM – Midway through our icebreaking activity Arturo returned with our first dish; half the team ordered the Zuppa Del Giorno and the other half ordered the Insalata Del Fornaio. I ordered the Insalata Del Fornaio; it was a perfectly sized portion of mixed greens with garlic croutons and shaved parmesan sprinkled on top that was lightly dressed with a savory house vinaigrette to enhance the flavor. I highly recommend this as starter dish for anyone who decides to visit iL Fornaio!

Arturo then introduced to us our choices for the main dish. We had four delicious options to choose from.

Insalata Di Tacchino
Organic mixed greens salad with house roasted free-range turkey, hardboiled egg, avocado, cannellini beans, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, Parmigiano and balsamic vinaigrette.

Ravioli alla Lucana
Organic spinach ravioli filled with Italian sausage, ricotta, Grana Padano and fennel; topped with fresh tomatoes, spicy tomato sauce with imported pepperoncino, pecorino pepato cheese and fresh basil.

Pollo Toscano
Free-range rotisserie chicken seasoned with rosemary; served with mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables.

Salmone con Spinaci
Griddled salmon over organic baby spinach salad with red onions, mushrooms, toasted walnuts and warm vinaigrette.

Once Arturo left the room with our orders, the conversation continued as we began to dig into our first dish.


Pollo Toscano

11:45AM – Our main dishes arrive at the table and we are instantly impressed with the presentation; not to mention, just from the sheer smell of the food we already knew we were in for something spectacular. I ordered the Pollo Toscano and let me tell you, I’m picky when it comes to chicken but this chicken dish was exquisite. The dash of rosemary was the perfect touch to a satisfying rotisserie chicken. The mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables were the perfect combination of sides to this dish. I highly recommend this menu option for any future customers of iL Fornaio.

12:30PM – After consuming our meals, we started our “Wear Your Personality” photo shoot with the talented photographer, Elite of Elite on Earth Photography. This certainly was a highlight of the brunch because everyone got to showcase their individual styles and how it reflects our personalities. The photos turned out great and I can’t wait to share them with everyone! They will be posted on the Solano 888 Website with mini-portfolios so you can get to know the team better and what skills we bring to the table. Here are just some of the teasers for you:

1:00PM – As we finished up our final photos, Arturo brought the third and final dish to our table. Dessert! I think it’s safe to say that this was everyone’s favorite dish of the day.

It was the perfect sweet dish to end our wonderful brunch. We sat around the table to enjoy our Tiramisu while Jonah gave her closing remarks about the new and exciting changes to Solano 888 that we can look forward to.

Premier Bridal Shows at the Anaheim Convention Center

Built to look like a luxury cruise liner, the newest wing of the Anaheim Convention Center was the perfect location for hundreds of newly engaged couples to embark on their wedding planning journey.  



Premier Bridal Shows’ two day wedding expo in the 26,000 square foot ballroom of the Anaheim Convention Center offered brides and grooms the perfect opportunity to shop and compare Southern California’s top wedding professionals on a titanic scale.

Over 1900 attendees came “aboard” the Premier Bridal Show on January 4th and 5th making this Southern California’s  unsurpassed, leading wedding expo.


Happy brides, grooms, family and friends filled the spacious aisles exploring the best options to make their dream wedding come true.  Exhibitors, cast and crew outdid themselves with elaborate and creative displays, customer service, professionalism, organization and attention to detail.   Throughout the day brides and grooms commented on the quality of the wedding professionals exhibiting at this event.  Brides were so impressed with what they saw and heard, that numerous appointments and bookings were made.




The fashion shows were of the highest star rating.  Jonah of Solano 888 Productions took the helm as captain of the production.  The catwalk was graced with the latest in bridal fashions including bridesmaids dresses, wedding gowns and flower girl dresses from Mary Me Bridal, David’s Bridal and Strut Bridal. Tuxedos were showcased by Friar Tux Shop and Men’s Wearhouse.  As Jonah’s first mate, 5 Star Mobile DJ (Saturday) and Renowned Events (Sunday) emceed the fashion show bringing energy, entertainment and highly anticipated prize give-aways to the fashion show. Floral Riot provided stunning bouquets to accent the wedding fashion.  Cartel Hair Salon and Salon 5150 created wedding day hairdos for the models and Arte of Makeup’s flawless looks allowed brides to get a glimpse of options for their wedding day.  Alanifoto Photography and Shuttered Light Photo and Video captured the fantastic images of this event.


Each aisle offered an island of wedding services for brides to explore.  From traditional services like photographer, venues, florists, invitations and planners to unique services such as Sugarplum Fudge Petite Fours and Bling Out the Best.  

The Anaheim Convention Center was a fabulous launch to 2014 for Premier Bridal Shows.  With 15 upscale events in Southern California scheduled for this year, we know it will be a Bon Voyage as we set sail to work with premier wedding professionals, the finest venues and Socal’s best brides!

Operation: "Sagip Pinoy" / Save Filipinos affected by Typhoon Haiyan




We're starting this campaign to help our fellow Filipinos that got affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines on November 8, 2013. Tacloban City in particular hits very close to home because it's my parents' hometown.  Seeing all the devastation of this calamity on the news and on all social media is very heartbreaking.  For 5 straight days we could not locate my Aunt Levy (my mom's sister) and her family in Leyte.  Their house is situated literally next to the beach. We have more relatives in this province that we're concerned about as well.  Face timing with our mom in Zurich in the last few days has been very stressful since we could not do anything but pray and monitor the news.



An hour ago, I got this text from my mom:


"Tnx God, my sister, ate Levy and her husband, kuya Maling, are safe and alive! Praise the Lord Allelujah! God is great! They just need food, water and medicine. They're in Guinadiongan, where they live, only the big problem, no food, water, medicine and shelter. " 

 

We recently have coordinated with a non-profit organization in Cebu called "Give Back Cebu" that travels back and forth to the affected areas in Cebu, Samar & Leyte. They are packing relief goods and buying all the ESSENTIAL things that all the victims need such as: food, water, blankets, medicines, etc. We are sending monetary donations to them via Paypal.



In my 32 years of existence, I have never asked for monetary donations from anyone... but I am now pleading to you all to help contribute something to this situation. I know a lot of people that have BIG fascination for nice things in life yet I also believe that these people have BIG hearts to share. I'm sure that a few dollars won't hurt our bank accounts. If we could afford to go online, check our Facebook every hour then WE CAN AFFORD TO HELP! Your $20 could buy a sack of rice (50kg) in the Philippines that could feed 100 people in 1 day. I know that we always have a choice and it is OUR CHOICES that show what we truly are!

Orchestrating a Wedding Rehearsal

STEP #1: STAND WHERE YOU WILL BE STANDING
Line up the wedding party to stand where they will be standing for the wedding ceremony. (Groom and his attendants on the Officiant's left, Bride and her attendants on the Officiant's right.) The Bride and Groom face each other. The Ring Bearer (if any) usually stands in front of the Groom's attendants, Flower Girl (if any) in front of the Bride's attendants. Now the bridal party goes to the places where they will enter on the wedding day. Groom and his attendants go to the side (stage left, the Officiant's left side). The Bride and her attendants go to the back of the hall where they will enter.

STEP #2: SEAT THE GUESTS
Promptly at the announced time of the wedding, the time stated on the invitation, the ushers seat the family and honored guests. The front row is reserved for these special people. At the rehearsal you can practice escorting in these special guests if you want. Usually reminding the special people to wait in the back for their escort, and possibly introducing them to their escort (usher) is all that's needed.


STEP #3: THE BRIDAL PARTY WALKS IN
The Wedding Begins! First the groom and his attendants walk in from the groom's side, led by the Officiant, and stand where they did in STEP ONE. Remember the Officiant is there to help if someone has forgotten where to stand. Next the bride's attendants walk in, slowly, and take their places (where they stood in STEP ONE). 


Now the flower girl and ring bearer (if any) walk in and stand where they stood in STEP ONE. The music, if any, usually changes as the Bride walks in and the Officiant always motions the guests to rise. Now the Bride is escorted in. The Officiant will ask "Who brings her here on this happy day of her life?" The person or persons escorting the bride usually say: "I do", "we do", "or on behalf of all who love her, I do".

Now, the Officiant performs the ceremony...


STEP #4: THE BRIDAL PARTY WALKS OUT
As soon as the Officiant has declared the couple "wife and husband" and they kiss, the elated couple walks out (sometimes after having been introduced as the new Mr. & Mrs.) The flower girl and ring bearer (if any) follow. The attendants from each side meet in the center and walk out as couples. Often the ushers return to escort out the front row. Usually this is done as an entire row, not person by person, since people are eager to congratulate the couple and begin partying.



Note: Prior to the wedding instruct your ushers as to whether you want them to seat guests generally, or as "friends of the bride or friends of the groom?" and whether or not you want them to walk guests all the way to their seats, or motion them to empty seats.

(3) October 13, 2013 > Sheraton Delfina - Santa Monica, CA

Call time is at 9:30am. Fashion show ends at 2:30pm. This is approximately a 5-hour "non-paid" gig. Models get a free a hair and make-up and professional photos in actual wedding gowns/tux 2-3 weeks after the event for portfolio purposes. Up to two (2) complimentary tickets for model's guests to the show ($10 value).

Male models' tux/suit will be sponsored by Vera Wang's Black Edition courtesy of Men's Wearhouse. Fitting will be scheduled prior to event day at the closest shop near your area.

Bridal gowns are sponsored by Mary Me Bridal.

Most Unexpected Yelp Review

Bahar S.' Review: "I'm having a destination wedding in Cabo so ultimately I needed to hire a local wedding coordinator in Mexico, but I wanted to take the time to write about Jonah at Solano 888 Productions.

After becoming very frustrated by all the vendors and the wedding planners in Mexico and how slow an none responsive everyone there is I had cold feet about having a destination wedding after all. I started googling local vendors and a wedding I liked listed Solano 888 Productions as the event coordinators. I wrote them an email with a list of questions.

Literally the next day Jonah called me. She didn't just have answers she had taken the time to do research other vendors that I may like with a range of available dates for the months I was considering. When I told her my issues with the hotels in Los Cabos, she said she would check into it. Within two days she sent me emails and called to provide me information about the hotels I was interested in in Mexico. The local wedding planner I was dealing with didn't get back to me until a week after Jonah.

She also called my DJ and made him give me a discount after I had already negotiated a price with him.

Jonah is organized and hard working. But the most important thing is that she seemed to genuinely care about my budget and my time constraint. As a bride you want to have the best wedding possible but finances can be very stressful and I literally felt calm and optimistic every time I got off the phone with her.

Ultimately, I had to get a local wedding planner in Mexico because I need a presence there since I am planning from LA but if I were to have a local wedding I would definitely work with Jonah."
